VMware (New) Certification Roadmap for 2015 : goodbye VCAP, welcome VCIX!

VMware has revisited the certification paths : all certification levels are affected but the major change concerns VCAP which are replaced by VCIX. The certifications are decoupled in 4 solutions tracks and 4 levels. It’s easy to notice that VCAP are missing and replaced by VCIX for all solution tracks. I don’t know if it’s a good thing or not, but this definitely change a lot for people targeting VCDX. For each VCIX certification, you will need to pass 2 different exams (see the table below). ...

Security-as-a-Service with NSX Service Composer

Note: I posted an article about NSX Composer on VMware’s Consulting blog, and I thought it would be interesting to share it here. In dynamic cloud data centers, application workloads are provisioned, moved and decommissioned on demand. In legacy network operating models, network provisioning is slow and workload mobility is limited. 365-day licenses with EVALExperience by VMware

And to get those licenses, you have mainly the choice between three options: use the 60 days trial period, buy real licenses, be part of the vExpert program: the vExperts receive 365-day eval keys for multiple products (vCloud Suite, Horizon Suite, SRM, vRealize Operations, ITBM, VSAN, Log Insight, Workstation/Fusion, etc.). However, a new option emerged this week: VMUG Advantage now includes access to 9 VMware applications for a 365-days period. ...

vRealize Rebranding Cheat Sheet

Earlier in August, at VMworld 2014, VMware announced a major renaming of its management products, to unify all current and future cloud management offerings under a single brand: VMware vRealize. This new brand is focused on 3 areas: Automation, Operations and Business. Besides, vCloud Hybrid Service (a.k.a. vCHS) was renamed to vCloud Air. VMware also announced new SaaS offerings for management products hosted on vCloud Air. When vRealize products are offered as a service on vCloud Air, they will be branded vRealize Air “X” where “X” is the descriptive name of the product (such as vRealize Air Automation). ...
