Inspect your network with vRealize Network Insight (vRNI)

VMware vRealize Network Insight 3.0.0 (formerly known as Arkin) is now generally available. vRNI delivers intelligent operations for software-defined networking and security, with converged visibility across virtual and physical networks, planning and recommendations for micro-segmentation and operations management for NSX. This product is a new offering for VMware, and addresses the need for deeper, richer NSX operation and traffic analytics in the fast growing virtual networking market. Compared to Arkin, there are several new features being introduced with this release: ...

Load Balance VMware Platform Services Controller (PSC) with NSX 6.2

Introduced with vSphere 6, the Platform Services Controller (PSC) provides several core services, such as Certificate Authority, License service and Single Sign-On (SSO). Multiple external PSCs can be deployed serving one (or more) service, such as vCenter Server, Site Recovery Manager or vRealize Automation. When deploying the Platform Services Controller for multiple services, availability of the Platform Services Controller must be considered. In some cases, having more than one PSC deployed in a highly available architecture is recommended. ...

What's new in NSX for vSphere 6.2

NSX for vSphere 6.1 has been available for almost one year and now is the time to welcome a new major version of the product: NSX for vSphere 6.2. As a reminder for those who have lived in a cave the last years, NSX is VMware’s solution to virtualize network and security for your software-defined data center. NSX network virtualization decouples the network from hardware into a software abstraction layer which allows you to programmatically create, provision, and manage your networks. ...

Extend vROps 6 Capabilities with the vRO Solution & Workflow Package

With vRealize Operations Manager 6.0 (a.k.a. vROps), VMware released a version which introduced not only major architectural changes but also many new features. Amongst those (amazing) new features, the concept of symptoms, recommendations and actions were added to the product. The actions available in vRealize Operations Manager allow you to modify the state or configuration of selected objects in vCenter Server from the correct context in vROps user interface. An administrator might need to change the configuration of an object to address a problematic resource issue or to redistribute resources to optimize your infrastructure. ...

Security-as-a-Service with NSX Service Composer

Note: I posted an article about NSX Composer on VMware’s Consulting blog, and I thought it would be interesting to share it here. In dynamic cloud data centers, application workloads are provisioned, moved and decommissioned on demand. In legacy network operating models, network provisioning is slow and workload mobility is limited. While compute virtualization has become the new norm, network and security models remained unchanged in data centers. NSX is VMware’s solution to virtualize network and security for your software-defined data center. ...
